Tylenol sinus, or saline nasl spray, which is a good alternative to a netti pot, you just buy a bottle and squirt it up into your sinuses to clean them out...a warm, moist towel laid over your sinuses for a few minutes helps too...

Theophany
Sudafed and four aspirins.

bayou_babe1111
Claritin, & if that doesnt do it - try Excedrin Migrane.

CarpeDiem
Most people including myself take Sudafed, so i'd recommend you use that :)

you can buy inhalers for this problem in your pharmacy or try Vick's in hot water.you no the old towel over the head job.if it is really bad you could shell out and go for foot therapy.alot of people i no swear by it.their is a point in your foot they massage to get rid of many ailments and they can tell you things you didn't even no you had.they find them through crystals that gather in your feet.worth a try

I feel your pain. Get a moist, hot wash cloth and put it over your sinuses. If it's really bad you can even put several in a crock pot with warm water, turn it on low heat and keep exchanging the cloths.

How long have you been taking your current allergy med? If you've been taking it for a while it may be it's time to try a different one.

Like some of the other posters said you can try sinus meds such as sudafed, tylenol sinus, etc. The most effective sinus meds will be found behind the counter at the pharmacy and you'll have to ask for them.

The Netti pots are a bit messy... Neilmed sinus rinse bottle is what I use for sinus rinses. It's absolutely gross and I hate it but honestly, (and it pains me to say this) they do help. You can get a starter kit at Walgreens or Wal-Mart. (blue box) The kit includes saline/soda pre-mixed packets as well as the bottle. Just *don't* try rinses if your ears are plugged.

If none of these ideas work for you then consider going to your doctor. Feel better!

Well this is an old southern remedy. What my grandmother does is she takes a spray bottle with water in it and mixes it with vinegar. She then goes in to her room and sprays the room. ( a little mist ) She says it helps alot. It opens your nasal passage that way you can breathe and this way a headache is not created.

a good hot shower. Cup some of the hot water in your hands and gently snort it just a little. the water, heat and steam will break up the compacted sinuses and you will be relieved of SO much pressure.

Drink hot tea. Stay away from all dairy as this increases the amount of mucus your body creates.

Sudafed can work, but will most likely just make you feel dryed out, thirsty and a little edgy.

I have severe allergies and get sinus headaches, its not an infection its just sinus pressure. I swear by snorting water. I also use the sinus rinse. The benefits totally are worth doing it. I know alot of people cant stand the idea of putting water up your nose, but when your sinuses need it and you can be relieved then why not?!

I love my neti pot. You might need a decongestant, though. You need that stuff that you have to ask the pharmacist for--psuedoephedrin. You can get homeopathis meds at the health food store, too. I have a homeopathic nasal spray by Similisan. It works well to clear out my sinuses so I can neti.

Warm soups and avoiding ice cold items for a while certainly controls the sinus troubles. Sipping warm water at intervals also helps. The best cure is steam which is easily done with the electric steam machine that serves as a perfect home remedy. One could also use some eucalyptus oil in the steam in controlled doses. Echinacea is found in capsule form to fight sinus allergy. Ginger tea and sleep is a good option for sinus headaches. For curing headaches warm water compress on the head and foot is helpful. Accupressure points are easy to learn.

The four pairs of sinus cavities are clogged or infected in case of sinusitis. The sinus have to be free in order to filter out the bad air particles and dirty mucus. The headaches are often the result of blockage as mucus does not seem to pass through the nose. Jal neti or the yogic method of cleaning the nostrils and sinus pockets has to practiced under the supervision of an expert. This is the best method and if used correctly helps a person overcome the allergy. Pollution and dust cannot be avoided and hence fighting the allergy through natural methods is the best option.

Other sinus cure tips:

Dip a small towel in cold water, rinse, and apply to forehead. Once the towel gets warm, flip it to the other side, or dip it into cold water again.

Lying down, in a dark room, maybe getting a 1/2 hour of sleep, will always make you feel better.

A decoction of half a teaspoon mustard seeds powder and three teaspoons water, if instilled in the nostrils, redresses migraine.

The juice of ripe grapes is an effective home remedy for a migraine.

For a sinus headache, eat a jalapeno pepper as soon as possible. Within minutes your sinuses will start to drain and the sinus headache will subside.

A peppermint steam inhalation provides quick relief for sinus headaches. Peppermint acts as a decongestant, and the combination of warm steam and the essential oil is doubly effective for opening up the sinuses.

Mix 1 teaspoon finely ground cinnamon in 1 teaspoon water and apply on the forehead. It is very effective in headache due to exposure to cold air.

Make a paste from dry ginger with a little water or milk, apply to the forehead for sinus relief.

Grind 10-15 Basil leaves with 4 cloves and 1 teaspoon dried ginger into a paste and apply to forehead for sinus cure.

For a painful sinus headache, try a hot footbath along with a cold compress on the forehead...

Relax and

I boil some water set it on the table get myself a towel and steam it out. Its good for the skin too!
I do Tylenol Sinus also.

SHAMILF
Oh my. Someone recommended one of those nettie pots to me once. It scared me. I prefer to stick to the man made pharmaceutical drugs such as sudafed. Plus with your leftovers, you can start yourself a meth lab.
