Additional Details
How can I prove it was the shoes?

Crissie

catz**eyes

probably not... it's not the shoe store's fault if you are allergic to something.

if there was something in the shoes that normally shouldn't be in the shoe - then maybe. but if they are made the same way as everyone else's, who didn't have a reaction - you're out of luck.
Once the shoe's are worn - no returns, no refunds

jimi
Yes, because under the 'Sale of Goods Act', they are not suitable for their purpose.
Good Luck.

You don't need to prove it was the shoes. Just tell them it is. They are not likely to get an expert witness in to discredit your story, don't worry about it. In fact I'll even take them back for you myself if you want!

yeah,as long as they are in good condition to sell again

depends on the situation..is it just you that has had a reaction??is it something your alergic to?
best bet it to go to the doc's and ask if its something your allergic to.
I dont think the store would allow you to have a refund but you never no you could go and ask

gerald/heather h
nope im sure the store wont give you one for that - if they still look new even on the bottom take them back and tell them you tried a couple times to where them but there is a poking thing that comes up from the bottom only when you step and hurts your foot but you cant feel it when you stick your hand in there, if they try to exchange for the same pair tell them that you are afraid the same thing would happen - can they exchange for something else or give you a refund......

No, you can not return them for hygienic reasons.

Put an antiseptic foot powder in the shoe, and wear stockings before wearing the shoes.

You might be allergic to the plastic sole.

Most shoes have plastic inlays.

Unlikely, unless you can prove that the company deliberately used a harmful chemical.

kelly
yeh they dont have to be ruined to take them back

You are if you got them from Wal Mart!!

Steve
The retailer is not responsible for your body's immune system.

Exception maybe: Unless you told the store you had an allergy to "_____". AND, they told you, "these shoes are not made with nor do they have "____". You can safely buy them! You'd better have that in writing as well. You would have to be prepared to prove the shoes have the allergen you were previously "medically proved to be allergic to. Probably all of this is more than the cost of the shoes. Give them to someone that can wear them and be glad you didn't go into anaphalactic shock.

Polo
No, only if they are faulty in any way.....

Unfortunately, no. You are only entitled to a refund if there was actually something wrong with the shoes, and in this case, there wasn't. The fact that you have an allergy to something the shoes are made of, has nothing to do with the condition of the shoes.

maybe next time when purchasing shoes, you should consult with the store workers to make sure you get a pair of shoes that you aren't allergic to.

Good Luck!
