How To Use
  • Follow all directions for proper mixing and dilution with the correct IV fluids.
  • If you have questions regarding the use of Invanz, consult your pharmacist.
  • Inject Invanz into a muscle (IM) or give by vein (IV) over 30 minutes in a saline solution usually once daily, or as directed by your doctor.
  • The dosage and length of treatment is based on your medical condition and response to therapy.
  • Do not mix Invanz in dextrose-containing solutions (e.g., D5W).
  • If Invanz is being given into a muscle (IM), follow all directions for mixing with an anesthetic solution (e.g., lidocaine 1%).
  • Doing so may help relieve some of the discomfort from the IM injection.
  • Antibiotics work best when the amount of medicine in your body is kept at a constant level.
  • Therefore, take Invanz at evenly spaced intervals.
  • Continue to take Invanz until the full-prescribed amount is finished even if symptoms disappear after a few days.
  • Stopping the medication too early may allow bacteria to continue to grow, which may result in a relapse of the infection.
  • Inform your doctor if your condition does not improve in 3 days.
  • Before using, check this product visually for particles or discoloration.
  • If either is present, do not use the liquid.
  • Learn how to store and discard needles and medical supplies safely.
  • Consult your pharmacist.

Side Effects
  • Diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, headache, constipation, and injection site reactions (e.g., pain, redness, swelling) may occur.

  • Tell your doctor immediately if any of these highly unlikely but very serious side effects occur: seizures, unusually fast heartbeat, chest pain, unusual fatigue.
  • An allergic reaction to Invanz is unlikely, but seek immediate medical attention if it occurs.
  • Symptoms of an allergic reaction include: rash, itching, dizziness, swelling, trouble breathing.
  • Use of Invanz for prolonged or repeated periods may result in a secondary infection (e.g., oral or vaginal fungal infection).
  • Contact your doctor if you notice white patches in your mouth, a change in vaginal discharge or other new symptoms.
  • If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor or pharmacist.

  • Tell your doctor your medical history, especially of: kidney problems, brain or seizure disorders, any allergies.
  • Caution is advised when using Invanz in the elderly because they may be more sensitive to the effects of Invanz.
  • Tell your doctor if you are pregnant before using Invanz.
  • Invanz passes into breast milk and may have undesirable effects on a nursing infant.
  • Consult your doctor before breast-feeding.

Missed Dose
