Storage
  • Store at room temperature between 59 and 86 degrees F (15 to 30 degrees C) away from heat and light.
  • Check the expiration date on the tube and discard any expired medication.

Overdose
  • If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately.
  • Ak-Poly-Bac may be harmful if swallowed.

How To Use
  • For best effects, Ak-Poly-Bac must be used as directed.
  • Continue using it for the full time prescribed.
  • Stopping Ak-Poly-Bac too soon may not clear the infection and could possibly result in a reinfection.
  • Apply eye ointment to the affected eye(s) as follows: Wash hands first.
  • To avoid contamination, be careful not to touch the tube tip or let it touch your eye.
  • Rolling the ointment tube in your hands for a minute will make the ointment flow easier.
  • Tilt your head back, gaze upward and pull down the lower eyelid to make a pouch.
  • Place 1/4 to 1/2 inch of ointment into the pouch by squeezing the tube gently.
  • Close the eye and roll the eyeball in all directions to spread the medication.
  • Try not to blink and do not rub the eye.
  • Wipe the tip of the ointment tube with a tissue to remove excess medication before capping it.
  • If you are using an eye drop in addition to Ak-Poly-Bac, apply the eye drops first and wait at least five minutes before applying this eye ointment.
  • If you are using another type of eye ointment, wait at least ten minutes after using Ak-Poly-Bac before applying it.

Side Effects
  • Ak-Poly-Bac may temporarily sting or burn your eyes for a minute or two when first applied.
  • If this continues or becomes bothersome, inform your doctor.
  • Vision may be temporarily blurred or unstable for a period after applying eye ointment.
  • Use caution if driving or performing duties requiring clear vision.
  • Notify your doctor immediately if you develop: rash, itching or burning eyes, redness/pain or swelling in or around the eyes, vision problems.
  • If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor or pharmacist.

Precautions

  • Ak-Poly-Bac should be used only if clearly needed during pregnancy.
  • Discuss the risks and benefits with your doctor.

  • Do not double-up the dose to catch up.

Drug Interactions
