This product is a combination controller medication used as long-term (maintenance) treatment to prevent or decrease the symptoms of asthma (e.g., wheezing, trouble breathing), and also chronic lung disease (emphysema/bronchitis-COPD). It works by opening the airways in the lungs (decreases bronchiolar swelling and causes muscle relaxation). Advair Diskus does not work immediately and should not be used for acute asthma attacks. Additional Thoughts
It works only as well as the other preventative inhalers, which was just fine. But now I can't get off Advair by myself and my doctor won't help me get off it. In fact, the doctors I've seen seem to believe I can't possibly have a dependency on Advair. I know, 100% that I am. My asthma has NEVER been so bad as it was the few times I tried to quit or reduce the dose of Advair.
