USES: This medication is used to treat high levels of potassium in the body (hyperkalemia).

Uses
This medication is used to treat high levels of potassium in the body (hyperkalemia).
Notes
  • Do not share this medication with others.
  • Laboratory and/or medical tests may be performed to monitor your progress.

Storage
  • Store in tight containers at room temperature between 59 - 86 degrees F (15 - 30 degrees C) away from light and moisture.


How To Use
  • HOW TO USE THIS MEDICATION: Shake well before each use.
  • Take by mouth, usually 15 grams (60ml or 2 ounces) 1 to 4 times daily or as directed by your doctor.
  • Dosage is based on your medical condition and response to therapy.
  • Do not use salt substitutes without consulting your doctor.

Side Effects
  • Nausea, stomach pain, loss of appetite, constipation or diarrhea may occur.
  • If these effects persist or worsen, notify your doctor.
  • Unlikely but report promptly swelling, muscle cramps, dizziness or mental/mood changes.
  • Very unlikely but report promptly unusually fast, slow or irregular pulse, weakness or muscle spasm.
  • If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor or pharmacist.

Precautions
  • Tell your doctor your medical history, including any allergies, heart disease, kidney disease, high blood pressure or swelling (edema).
  • This medication should be used only when clearly needed during pregnancy.
  • Discuss the risks and benefits with your doctor.
  • It is not known whether this drug is excreted into breast milk.
  • Consult your doctor before breast-feeding.

Missed Dose
  • If you miss a dose, use it as soon as you remember.
  • If it is near the time of the next dose, skip the missed dose and resume your usual dosing schedule.
  • Do not "double-up" the dose to catch up.

Drug Interactions
  • Tell your doctor of all nonprescription and prescription medication you may use, especially calcium-, aluminum or magnesium-containing antacids or laxatives, certain "water pills" (potassium sparing diuretics such as amiloride) or digoxin.
  • Do not start or stop any medicine without doctor or pharmacist approval.
