Additional Thoughts
I REALLY need help, and don't know where to turn. I feel like a real scum bag, but I don't know what to do, where to go, or who to ask. Long story short. Live in a very small town. 100 miles from any Pain Management practice. My main goal; to ONLY get a good night's sleep, period. I want to try and not become a victim of what a narcotic drug can do to a person. In just taking it at night an hour before I go to bed, Eureka!!!! I get a GOOD 8 hours of sleep versus the 2-4 of restless, pain ridden "sleep". Even at 52 I can muster the "play through the pain" during the day. Don't get me wrong; it sucks and I hate it, but I really don't want to be on a narcotic 24/7 even though life would be much, much more livable. My doctor is a "pain addiction specialist", but has done what he could so far. He had me on Vicodin and it really didn't do anything for my constant pain issues that affect my sleep (on it for a year and didn't have a problem stopping it, fortunately). So, my doctor prescribed 30 mg of Oxycodone which, in reading other blogs, seems to be a fairly low dosage; and it worked like a dream, a true miracle (((for those of you that really need 80 mg or more to make it through the day, I can't imagine the kind of pain you're having to deal with on a constant basis. I'm not a real religious guy but you can know that I'm praying for each one of you because it really has to be pure Hell))). I now get a full night's rest eventhough I still will wake up a few times during the night; I'm able to go RIGHT back to sleep. My prescription is for one dose before bedtime ONLY, which is fine with me. THE PROBLEM: my doctor is really conflicted with prescribing this med on an ongoing basis because, as I stated before, he's an "addiction specialist". We tried, I guess he tried, to "refer" me to the Pain Management group about 85 miles away. Their response; "we can't help him". What the heck does that mean?; "he's a drug addict and we won't play this game"?????? because that's the way it felt when my doctor told me the response. My doctor feels like he can't go any further with the treatment as is (I've got about 2 weeks worth of good sleep left) and I feel totally abandoned. Obviously the real drug addicts have created a situation that makes it almost impossible for someone like me to get real pain management help; i.e., I don't have a open book, in your face situation like a car accident injury, etc.. so, my situation looks on paper, questionable. But, I can tell you as a person living with this crap that it isn't questionable; that's why I'm willing to live with it during the day and be happy with just a good night's sleep. I refuse to go back and live everyday with the pain AND NO SLEEP. I feel like a freaking criminal thinking the things I'm thinking, but I don't know what else to do. How does it go? "I was straight laced and never did anything wrong until the "good guys" forced me to be a bad apple". As I said at the beginning of this diatribe; I don't know what to do, who to ask, or where to go. I'm pretty much willing to do anything for a decent night's sleep. If I were trying to get a box full of 80 mg pills I would understand someone having an issue; but all I need is one 30 mg extended release pill before I go to bed each night. What does a decent person have to do in order to make such a wish come true? If anyone has any help or direction they can offer, I can be reached at [email protected] I probably already put a target between my eyes but I'm not a drug addict or a criminal; just someone who wants a decent night's sleep.

Im totally addicted to this drug, I have a script that gives me 120mg a day. It's not enough so I end up spending money buying them on the street. I wish my doctor would just up my script but she wont. So boo for me. I wouldn't suggest anyone taking this drug, it just leads to addiction with the worst with-drawls you could ever imagine.

Additional Thoughts
Oxycontin is a great pain killer.People who abuse this medicine should be locked up.It is for people with severe pain only and should not be taken by anyone who has history of drug abuse without proper supervision.I am not saying someone with history abuse cannot take it they should just be supervised very closely.I broke my back in a bad bike accident and severe car accident.I have titanium up and down my spine and would not have any kind of life without this medicine.I would literally be bedridden if it wasnt for oxycontin and was until I was put on it and tweeked out my dosage. However it is ashame people who were neglected by family or never loved by anyone including their family have to abuse this medicine and ruin it for true pain patients like me.We are having problem in Florida right now with all these people coming in from out of state to get their meds.Little to all these people know the Feds are doing investigation and they are all being followed out of state and as soon as they cross state lines the Feds are taking them away..Its about time they need to get these people off the street forever and put them on an island..

Side Effects
I did not want to continue the drug due to its negative effects, because I want to be normal (off of it) however the withdrawls are hell, but I have an internal struggle... I will go off for a few days, and then go on for a few days, to get stuff done, because when I am off, I am depressed and lazy... However, I was highly addicted from my script and other methods off the street, but that is no more. I really just want to stop, but with all I have going it is just an internal struggle that I will eventually win. If I could feel 1/2 normal for the first 5-7 days I dont think I would go back to it, and I did go off of it for 2 weeks and felt pretty good, but the mental part got me and the pain so I started very slowly, but wont let myself go above 80 - 100 mgs... My wd's are not so severe anymore, such as coming off or running out like 6-8 months ago... That was hell

Additional Thoughts
DO NOT TAKE IT... Please, it will make you regret everything... I wish my doctor would have told me about the w/d before he gave me a RX for it... Or I would not have taken it... Well, I guess its my will power that I have, but I will tell you what not sleeping for 5-7 days sucks, when you come off of it.... If your on it, and less than 14 days, trust me it may seem fun, euphoric, great, but ur digging ur own grave...
