Uses
This medication is used, in addition to surgery, to treat prostate cancer.
Notes
  • Do not share this medication with others.
  • Laboratory and/or medical tests, including chest x-rays or liver function tests, may be performed to monitor for side effects and response to therapy.

Storage
  • Store at room temperature between 59 and 86 degrees F (15 to 30 degrees C) away from light and moisture.

How To Use
  • HOW TO USE THIS MEDICATION: Take by mouth, generally once daily, as directed.
  • This medication can be taken with or without food.
  • Do not stop taking this without consulting your doctor or pharmacist.

Side Effects
  • Nausea, constipation, loss of appetite or hot flashes may occur.
  • If these effects persist or worsen, notify your doctor.
  • Report promptly stomach pain, headache, vision changes, facial flushing, dizziness, mental/mood changes, trouble sleeping, sweating, loss of body hair, rash, changes in sense of touch or decreased sex drive.
  • Unlikely but report promptly trouble breathing, cough, chest pain, fever, yellowing of the eyes or skin, dark urine, unusual tiredness, swelling, diarrhea, itching or black or bloody stools.
  • If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor or pharmacist.

Precautions
  • Tell your doctor your medical history, including any allergies, liver disease or lung problems (e.g., asthma or COPD).
  • This medication can cause a reaction when used with alcohol, including facial flushing, tiredness or dizziness.
  • If you experience these effects, avoid alcohol while taking this.
  • Consult your doctor or pharmacist about the use of alcohol.
  • This medication may alter the ability of your eye to adjust from a lighted area to a dark area.
  • Use caution when driving at night or through tunnels.
  • The use of tinted glasses may help block this effect.
  • Consult your doctor or pharmacist.
  • Use with caution in patients of Asian descent, as they may be more sensitive to the effects of this drug.
  • Consult your doctor.
  • This medication should be used only when clearly needed during pregnancy.
  • Discuss the risks and benefits with your doctor.
  • It is not known whether this drug is excreted into breast milk.
  • Consult your doctor before breast-feeding.

Missed Dose
  • If you miss a dose, use it as soon as you remember.
  • If it is near the time of the next dose, skip the missed dose and resume your usual dosing schedule.
  • Do not double the dose to catch up.

Drug Interactions
  • Tell your doctor of all prescription and nonprescription medication you may use, especially theophylline; drugs that affect your liver (e.g., isoniazid); "blood thinners" (anticoagulants such as warfarin); or seizure medications (e.g., phenytoin, carbamazepine).
  • Do not start or stop any medicine without doctor or pharmacist approval.
