Uses
Treats a condition called short bowel syndrome. This medicine is an amino acid.

Storage
  • Store the medicine in a closed container at room temperature, away from heat, moisture, and direct light.
  • Ask your pharmacist, doctor, or health caregiver about the best way to dispose of any outdated medicine or medicine no longer needed. Keep all medicine away from children and never share your medicine with anyone.


How To Use
  • APPEARANCE: Powder, Packet. Your doctor will tell you how much of this medicine to use and how often.
  • Do not use more medicine or use it more often than your doctor tells you to. You may need to take this medicine several times each day for up to 16 weeks.
  • The usual dose of this medicine is 1 packet mixed with water every 2 to 3 hours while you are awake.
  • You will not need to use the medicine during the night unless your doctor tells you.
  • Take the medicine with a meal or a snack. Mix a packet of medicine with at least 8 ounces of water just before using it.
  • Be sure to drink all of the mixture.

Side Effects
  • Call your doctor right away if you notice any of these side effects: Allergic reaction: Itching or hives, swelling in your face or hands, swelling or tingling in your mouth or throat, chest tightness, trouble breathing. Fever, chills, cough, sore throat, and body aches. Swelling in your face, hands, ankles, or feet.

Precautions
  • You should not use this medicine if you have had an allergic reaction to glutamine or glutamic acid.

Missed Dose
  • If you miss a dose or forget to use your medicine, use it as soon as you can.
  • If it is almost time for your next dose, wait until then to use the medicine and skip the missed dose.
  • Do not use extra medicine to make up for a missed dose.

Drug Interactions
  • Make sure your doctor knows if you are pregnant or breast feeding.
  • Tell your doctor if you have liver or kidney disease.

Side Effects
possible head ache, although it could have been lack of solid food or sudden no caffeine (as I ate only 'bland' food).

Additional Thoughts
Seemed to work within 36-48 hours (prescribed 3x per day for 3 days). Took a pain pill for the pain during time needed.
