Additional Thoughts
i would have to say this helps my IC, but I am also taking muscle relaxers to help with pelvic spasms (these help most of all) i do yoga to relax, and I smoke marijuana to help relax as well. the biggest thing that helped my IC was removing all major sources of stress and changing my diet (the IC diet) even with insurance this one prescription costs $100 a month, and it is very chemically similar to glucosamine, i think i may try quitting elmiron and continue to take glucosamine as a trial run. good luck to all those with IC!!!!

Debilitating diarrhea and abdominal pain, nonspecific colitis and gastritis, increased bruising and bleeding (including rectal bleeding)

Additional Thoughts
It's horribly expensive; I've had to change my life in order to be able to afford this medication (over $500/month, nearly my rent.) It's the only thing that's given me a measure of relief from my constant bladder pain; unfortunately, it has given me a whole host of other side effects which are extremely uncomfortable (but not quite as uncomfortable as the constant ache of IC.) I dissolve the powder inside the capsules in water and make sure to take it on an empty stomach, which has helped somewhat, but bleeding/pain are still pretty bad. After being on it for about a year (and also doing other procedures, including laprascopy for endometriosis), the drug helped contribute to full remission of my symptoms for 2 months, but when I went off of it due to the side effects and cost thinking I would be okay, the symptoms came back and now I am waiting for it to start working again.
