Nizatadine blocks stomach acid secretions. It is used to treat and prevent ulcers, to treat a heartburn-and-stomach disorder known as GERD (gastroesophageal reflux disorder), and to treat conditions associated with excess acid secretion.
  • For best results, this medication is often used along with lifestyle changes such as stress-reduction programs, exercise and dietary changes.
  • Talk to your healthcare professional about changes that you can benefit from.
  • Laboratory tests may be done periodically while taking this medication to monitor results and prevent side effects.

  • Store at room temperature (59 to 86 degrees F or 15 to 30 degrees C) away from heat and moisture.

How To Use
  • This medication may be taken without regard to meals.
  • Do not increase your dose, take this more often than prescribed or stop taking this without first consulting your doctor.

Side Effects
  • Sleepiness, fatigue or sweating may occur.
  • If these effects continue or become bothersome, inform your doctor.
  • Notify your doctor if you develop rapid or pounding heartbeats, diarrhea, pale stools, mental confusion, easy bruising or vision changes.
  • In the unlikely event you have an allergic reaction to this drug, seek medical attention immediately.
  • Symptoms of an allergic reaction include rash, itching, swelling, dizziness or trouble breathing.
  • If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor or pharmacist.

  • Tell your doctor if you have any pre-existing liver disease, kidney disease or any allergies, including any drug allergies.
  • Smoking may cause intestinal problems (e.g., ulcer) to reoccur, hindering the effects of this medication.
  • Elderly persons may be more sensitive to the effects of this medication.
  • Tell your doctor if you are pregnant before using this drug.
  • Nizatidine is excreted into breast milk.
  • Consult your doctor before breast-feeding.

Missed Dose
  • If you miss a dose, take it as soon as remembered; do not take it if it is near the time for the next dose, instead, skip the missed dose and resume your usual dosing schedule.
  • Do not "double-up" the dose to catch up.

Drug Interactions
  • Tell your doctor of any over-the-counter or prescription medications you are taking, including itraconazole and ketoconazole.
  • Do not start or stop any medicine without doctor or pharmacist approval.

I have experienced no side effects from AXID..

Additional Thoughts
Over the years doctors have prescribed everything on the market for me. The others either don't work for me or caused miserable side effects. Axid is the only medication that works for me. In my case, Proton Pump inhibitors don't work at all. Other H2 Blockers have unpleasant side effects. Axid gives me quality of life.
