Are there any over the counter ways to test for diabetes type II?

Is 132 an ok blood sugar level?
is it???

The acceptable level should be between 80 and 120

The criteria for diabetes is a fasting glucose level of 126 or above on two different occasions. I would see your health care practitioner and get a fasting glucose level.

The Doc
If that's your blood sugar first thing in the morning, before you've eaten (and assuming no midnight snacking) then it's a bit high. If it's not a fasting level, then it's perfectly fine.

teh limit for fasting bloodsugar is 110, whereas postprandial (after meals) is 140. So it depends upon whene the BS test was taken

right after a meal... yes 132 is ok up to 3 hours after a meal. After 3 hours recheck and make sure its a normal reading between 80 and 110.

Violet Pearl
Our bodies desire blood glucose to be maintained between 70 mg/dl and 110 mg/dl
Below 70 is termed "hypoglycemia".
Above 110 can be normal if you have eaten within 2 to 3 hours. That is why your doctor wants to measure your blood glucose while you are fasting...it should be between 70 and 110. Even after you have eaten, however, your glucose should be below 180.
Above 180 is termed "hyperglycemia" (which translates to mean "too much glucose in the blood"). If you have two blood sugar measurements above 200 after drinking a sugar-water drink (glucose tolerance test), then you are diagnosed with diabetes.

It depends on when it was taken. If it was after a 8-12 hour fast, then it is high and you should be tested for insulin resistance or diabetes. Testing would involve a blood test (fasting) for glucose and insulin

That is a slightly elevated level. You want to try for a blood sugar in the 70-110 range. If you run 120 or over consistently you need to see the doc if you don't carry a diagnosis of diabetes.

Was this before a meal or after?
